Biotime: latest news & 2 more juicy quotes

Millions of readers and tens of millions of writers wonder constantly: what’s it like publishing a novel on-line?  Does anyone read it?  And are free novels on-line worth reading anyhow?

I’ve started answering those questions with my novel  Biotime.

Part of the answer is that, like everything else creative, publishing a novel on-line takes patience and tenacity.  Since I began this exercise in early December I have rarely had thousands of readers flocking to the site – unlike when I previewed another novel of mine with “sex” in the title, and found lots of people instantly wanted to know about it.

Biotime: two more quotations

I am publishing my novel, Biotimein short excerpts on this blog.  You can read all those excerpts together in a regularly updated post called “Biotime, a novel: the story so far.”

In between I have been publishing a few juicy quotations from the book – mostly from the chapter headings.

Here are two more more quotations from Biotime.

Chapter 7

Moon Beach, Paradise.  An idyll in the night. Along the shore black granite flags shelve into the waves.  The ranks of viewing stools stand widely spaced, ports faced out into the dark like mute gun turrets.  In each, still, breathing deep and yet not sleeping, a single witness to the passage of the moon.  Sunk in reveries and deep-pile velour, these connoisseurs of night-time, superegos of the unlit hours, gaze away the hours from dusk ’til dawn.  When the orb itself appears, bathed in a pale reflected light, their liquid eyes turn upwards, in fascination of a leisured kind, until at last it sinks from sight, into the distant sea.
