Pictures of South-East Anatolia.  Yes, it is gorgeous.  Yes, you want to go there.  Prepare to be blown away by history and wonder.

A few years ago, when I was living in Istanbul, I was lucky enough to visit South-Eastern Anatolia.

I’ve got to be honest.  It blew me away.  This corner of Turkey, between the Tigris and the Euphrates, is the cradle of countless civilisations.

It’s not simply that you’ll find numerous civilisations.  Rather, you will find many civilisations that you’ve never heard of.  Like the Commagenes, who built the amazing statues at Mount Nemrut, pictured above.

Do take a look at the pictures of south-east Anatolia at the link.  They’re on my Facebook page.  23 shots of extraordinary south-eastern Turkey.  While you are on Facebook, why not follow my Robert Pimm writing page?

It’s easy to lose your sense of wonder in this increasingly globalised planet.  I’ve written about this often on this blog, including eg this post on “How to be happy“.  One of the key pieces of advice is: keep letting yourself be amazed.  You know it makes sense.

Places like this inspire me to write.  For an example of the results, see my novel Corona Crime.  Read, ponder and enjoy.

All feedback most welcome.
